Welcome to DCC!

The mission of Danville Community College’s Admissions and Records Office is to provide support during the admissions process, effectively communicate enrollment procedures, and ensure accurate record keeping for internal and external constituencies.

The Admissions Office Staff is available to assist students through the admissions and registration processes.

 

How To Become A Student at Danville Community College

1.  Complete a Danville Community College Admissions Application and Virginia Residency form.

For Non-Curricular Applicants:

2.  Official High School and/or College Transcripts

  • If you graduated from high school in the past 10
    years, or ever attended another college or
    university, you should have your transcripts sent
    to the Admissions Office at DCC.

  • If you have received your GED, a copy of your test scores should be sent to the Admissions Office at DCC.

3. Taking the Placement Test

  • Contact the Counseling Office at 434-797-8460 for an appointment.

  • Appointments are mandatory in order to take the placement test. You must have an application with DCC in order to register for the test.

    (Note: Subject to Change- Call Counseling to schedule an appointment):

    Tuesday  9am - 1pm & 5pm - 8:30pm

    Wednesday 1p.m. - 5pm

    Thursday 9am - 1pm

    Saturday 8:30 a.m. - 12pm

    Please arrive on time as our session times are limited. If you are unable to complete the entire test in one sitting, you will need to schedule a time to come back and finish it.

    You will need to bring a picture I.D. & your social security number.

    • All students are required to take the Placement assessment for placement in a program.
    • You must have a current admissions application on file to take the assessment.
    • The Placement assessment is given in the Wyatt Building Room 201 on DCC’s main campus and at the Southern Virginia Higher Education Center in South Boston.
    • Appointments are required. To make an appointment call 434.797.8460 or email DCC_Placement@dcc.vccs.edu.
    • If you are a student who will be requesting accommodations to take the Placement assessment, please contact the ADA Coordinator at 434.797.8572.
    • A calculator will be supplied. No outside calculators will be allowed.
    • DCC does not require the SAT or ACT.

    4. Meet with a DCC counselor.

    • Your counselor will discuss your placement test scores and place you in the program of your choice.

    • Counselors are available at DCC Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. and at the Southern VA Higher Education Center in South Boston.

    • To make an appointment with a counselor call the Counseling Office at DCC at 434-797-8460 or the Southern VA Higher Education Center at 434-572-5456.

    5. Meet with an advisor to register for classes.
