Policy
It is the policy of the Commonwealth of Virginia that
personal information about citizens will be collected only to
the extent necessary to provide the service or benefit desired;
that only appropriate information will be collected; that the
citizen shall understand the reason the information is collected
and be able to examine their personal record that is maintained
by a public body.
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974, Section
438, Public Law 90-247, as amended, sets forth requirements
governing protection of students’ rights to privacy in their
education records and affords them a right to inspect such
records. A copy of this act is on file in the Learning Resources
Center.
The College may disclose personally identifiable information
from a student’s education records. Such information, known as
directory information, includes the student’s name, address,
telephone number, date and place of birth, major field of study,
dates of attendance, degrees and awards received, and previous
colleges or institutions attended by the student. This
information may be disclosed by the College without the prior
consent of the student unless a written request is made to the
Coordinator of Admissions and Records before such time as the
College is asked to make such disclosure. In any case, the
College may disclose directory information from the education
records on an individual who is no longer in attendance at the
College. Students having questions pertaining to this act may
direct inquiries to the Director of Student Development.

you in order to verify its accuracy. You may do this by
contacting the Office of Admissions and Records. If you find
errors in your personal record, you may request that the
College review your record for accuracy by contacting the
Office of Admissions and Records. Should you not desire to
provide this personal information, we will be unable to
provide you the services which we offer over this website.
Once registered with the College, you are eligible to
request additional services that may require you to provide
additional personal information.
