Pathways for Success
Assisting Trade Act Students Who Are Residents of:
Caswell County, North Carolina
Pittsylvania County, Virginia
City of Danville, Virginia
Purpose
“Pathways for Success: A Cross-border Collaboration” is an initiative of Danville Community College and Piedmont Community College that will address the financial funding gaps that can adversely affect local Trade Act students. The grant will allow the community colleges to employ a customized approach to meeting the individual needs of each student and therefore increase the success rate of the student participants who qualify for the project.
Trade Act students will be assisted with completing a degree, diploma or certificate in their program of study as defined by their North Carolina Employment Security Commission or Virginia Employment Commission Trade Act training plan and provided with resources to assist them in seeking employment.
Eligibility
Trade Act eligible participants must be residents of Danville and Pittsylvania County, Virginia, and Caswell County, North Carolina who have been displaced by Trade Act eligible events.
Guidelines
Trade Act participants will be provided the following specialized services to assist them in returning to the workforce:

Supplemental unemployment needs based payments

Health insurance assistance

Educational costs

Career Readiness Certification assistance

Student transportation assistance

Case management/job placement support
