Off-campus Access

Danville Community College provides off-campus access to many of its on-line Library resources. To access our electronic databases from off-campus you must be a registered DCC student or a member of the DCC faculty and staff. Follow the step-by-step directions below and you should be able to access the Online library resources provided to you by Danville Community College.

STUDENT ACCESS

Step 1

Locate the DCC "Online Resources" page at http://www.dcc.vccs.edu/lrc/resources/resources.htm. For ease of access, please use this page as your gateway to the online databases.

Step 2

Whenever you select one of the Library's databases, a window will pop up asking you to log-on. The log-on requires you to enter your user id and a password. (Click here to see example of the new log-on dialog page.)

Userid/customer id: Your userid is the same as your VCCS E-mail user name -- the part before the @.

For example, a user whose E-mail address is ASMITH9999@email.vccs.edu, would use ASMITH9999 as the userid.

If you don't know your VCCS user id, go here.

Password/PIN: The password is the same as your VCCS E-mail account or Blackboard account. (Note: if you have changed your Blackboard password, that change will also be seen by the proxy server. You must use the changed password, not the default assigned by the system when you E-mail/Blackboard account was set up.)

If you don't know your VCCS user id, go here.

Step 3

Once you have completed these steps, you should be able to access our Online library resources, including those with restricted access.

FACULTY AND STAFF ACCESS

Faculty and staff will, for now, contact Tandy Gaffney (434-797-8563 or tgaffney@dcc.vccs.edu) to have a student E-mail address created for their userid.

Step 1

Step 2

Faculty and Staff should use their VCCS Username, or Blackboard ID to access VIVA. (examples jdoe9978@email.vccs.edu, or jd57@email.vccs.edu.) This is not the same as your DCC email account. The password will be by default the user's date of birth in the format MMDDYY, unless the user has changed the password.

If user's do not have a VCCS Username/Blackboard ID they should contact Tandy Gaffney to have one created. If user's do not know their ID they should look it up at the following link https://dcc.my.vccs.edu/jsp/vccsidLookup.jsp .

Step 3

Once you have completed these steps, you should be able to access our Online library resources, including those with restricted access.
