TUTORING CENTER
 

The DCC Tutoring Center is located in the upper-level of the Whittington W. Clement Learning Resources Center. The Tutoring Center provides support for student learning through a combination of peer and professional tutoring services. 
 

Tutoring Services:
Free peer and professional tutoring is available to any Danville Community College student with an academic need.  Tutoring is provided by appointment for individuals and small groups.  Trained peer tutors and paraprofessionals are available to tutor specific subject areas and to assist students in developing effective learning strategies. Tutoring is designed to support and enhance your classroom learning.  

DCC peer tutors are selected for their communication skills and excellence in specific academic areas.  Peer tutors must maintain a minimum of a 3.0 GPA and receive a faculty recommendation for the subject they are tutoring.  They also complete tutor training classes in preparation for their tutoring.

 To Request Tutoring:

1. Students interested in receiving on campus tutoring fill out a Application for Peer Tutoring form and turn it into the Coordinator of the Tutoring Center.
2. The Tutoring Center coordinator selects a tutor for the student, then contacts the student with the time and date of the tutoring session.
3. Typically tutors and students conduct the tutoring session in the Learning Resources Center.

Tutees agree at the time they make an appointment to make every effort to keep it.  If they cannot, they are requested to call ahead and cancel.  After 2 absences without cancellation, tutees are subject to removal from the appointment books.

Appointments will be given out on the basis of availability.  There may be certain times or days in which tutoring for a particular subject is unavailable.  For example, very little tutoring is done at night or on weekends.

Tutor Tree Planting Project

Our tutors in conjunction with the Danville 4-H and the Japanese Club participated in tree planting project. The tutors wanted to leave behind a legacy of pride and accomplishments.
