  • Rare Map Collection: The American Civil War - University of Georgia. Presents maps of various battlefields, including Bull Run, Chickamauga, Gettysburg, and Greenbrier River. Also provides maps of Atlanta, Richmond, and Charleston Harbor, in addition to a variety of topographical maps.   

  • The Civil War - Teacher Oz's Kingdom of History.  An outstanding site!!! Begin your Civil War research on this site, where you can find just about anything you need.         

  • Civil War Primary Documents, Personal Diaries, Journals, Letters, Cartoons, Art, Images, Poetry, Literature, & Music - Teacher Oz's Kingdom of History.

  • Confederate States of America Documents - The Avalon Project at the Yale Law School. Provides the Declarations of Secession (for Georgia, Mississippi, South Carolina, and Texas) and various messages and papers of the Confederacy. 

  • The American Civil War Homepage - The University of Tennessee. An excellent site!!  Provides links to hundreds of sites concerned with the Civil War, including: documents; general resources; specific battles; images; rosters & regimental histories; state & local studies; Civil War re-enactors. 

  • American Civil War: Resources on the Internet - Dakota State University.  Links to numerous sites dealing with the Civil War.

  • Civil War Reenactors. Provides links to numerous reenactor sites.

  • Civil War Women:  Primary Sources on the Internet - Duke University.  This site provides links to primary sources "which document women's experiences in the Civil War."  Includes diaries, letters, and other documents.  Photographs and prints from the Library of Congress and the National Archives are also provided, along with links to additional sites.

  • The Civil War Soldiers and Sailors System - The National Park Service.  Using this database, one can "learn about servicemen who served on both sides during the Civil War."  Also includes "a list of regiments in both the Union and Confederate Armies and identifications and descriptions of 384 significant battles of the war."

  • Selected Civil War Photographs Home Page - The Library of Congress. Contains over 1000 photographs - includes scenes of military personnel, preparations for battle, and battle after-effects; also includes portraits of both Confederate and Union officers. Contains a timeline of the Civil War.
