Vickie Holland Taylor received her B.S. degree in Social Science with a Sociology Concentration and M.A. degree in Sociology with a minor in Community College Education from Appalachian State University in Boone, NC. She has done other graduate work at UNC-G, ASU and UVA. Other than a teaching fellowship at ASU, she has spent her career teaching at DCC. From the beginning, Ms. Taylor has been active in student activities. She served as a sponsor of the Student Government Association and then from 1976-1981, she was the college’s Coordinator of Student Activities. In August 1988, she became an advisor of the Upsilon Phi Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa.

Ms. Taylor has one daughter who has a B.A. degree in Sociology from UNC-G and a B.S. degree in Elementary/Middle School Education from UNC-G. She teaches sixth grade in Randolph County North Carolina, is married and the mother of Ms. Taylor’s granddaughter. Ms. Taylor believes in providing community volunteer activities for students; she participates with them at Habitat for Humanity, God’s Storehouse, and City Beautiful Street Clean Up to name a few. She is active in her church, First Baptist, Danville, where she enjoys singing in the choir. Her cat Claytie does not quite understand all the excitement when basketball and football seasons arrive. She loves watching sports and her blood runs Carolina Blue and Appalachian Black and Gold. We cannot forget the Washington Redskins or the Carolina Panthers!

Ms. Taylor teaches Introduction to Sociology I and II, Social Problems, Principles of Sociology, and Sociology of the Family.
