Mission

The primary mission of Danville Community College's Financial Aid Office is to provide financial guidance to students as they pursue their educational goals.  The program is committed in its belief that qualified students should have an opportunity to pursue educational objectives, regardless of financial resources.

To achieve this purpose, the Financial Aid Office commits to the following:

  • Complying with federal and state laws as well as institutional policies

  • Promoting and maintaining integrity, accuracy and timelines

  • Providing adequate information for students and parents to make informed decisions regarding the financing of their education

  • Promoting and providing equal access to eligible students interested and pursuing an education at Danville Community College

  • Managing all grant programs including loans and work-study and administering the Veteran's Program

To help pay for tuition, Danville Community College is pleased to announce the Nelnet tuition payment plan.

Nelnet allows you to pay your tuition in monthly payments.   The earlier you enroll, the more payment options you have.  Enroll in the Nelnet plan or review the available  payments plans.

DCC Pell Grant Students Taking Southside Virginia Community College Classes

  • The student must complete an Authorization to Charge request.

  • The student must complete and sign the request at the Southern Virginia Higher Education Center.

  • The student must request a revised Authorization if he/she makes changes in enrollment.

  • DCC must receive all invoices (tuition and bookstore) from SVCC before any funds can be disbursed to the student.

  • Please be aware that taking classes at another college will delay the disbursement of any financial aid balance until any outstanding charges have been paid.

    • Satisfactory Academic Progress 

    1. Federal law requires DCC to have a SAP (Satisfactory Academic Progress) policy.

    2. Too many withdrawals (grades of W), are the #1 reason for student's losing their eligibility at Danville
      Community College.

    3. You must pass three (3) SAP criteria to get aid. These guidelines must cover all periods of enrollment
      regardless of whether or not you have received financial aid in the past.

  • Complete 67% of all courses attempted with grades of A,B,C,D,S, or P.

  • Have a cumulative grade point average requirement of:

    • Credit Hours Attempted Minimum Expected GPA
    1 - 15 1.5
    16 - 30 1.75
    30 +  2.0

  • Not exceed 150% of the credit hours required to graduate from your academic program.
    Example: If the total credits in your degree plan are 66, then your 150% max is 99. (66 * 1.5 = 99).
