Public Relations Staff

	Andrea J. Burney, APR is the Director of Public Relations and Minority Concerns. She is responsible for all of the public relations activities of Danville Community College. Burney has more than 30 years experience in media and public relations, having worked as a reporter, corporate communications editor and national media specialist. She has a bachelor's degree in journalism from Boston University, and her MBA from Averett University. Burney is also an accredited public relations professional and is a member of the Public Relations Society of America and the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations.
	Public Relations & Marketing Specialist II - position currently vacant
	Lori Bidgood, a resident of Danville, is the Graphic Designer. She comes to DCC with more than 20 years of graphic design experience. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Art at the University of North Carolina (Greensboro) and later received a Master of Business Administration Degree from Averett University. Previously, she served as Graphic Designer at Lucent Technologies, Inc./PVA Global in Greensboro; Marketing Director at Electronic Development Labs Inc. in Danville; Advertising Manager at Sun International Trading in Wilmington, NC; and as a freelance Graphic Designer/Portrait Artist/Muralist for 10 years. She also has taught business communications classes at DCC.
	Tameka B. Thomas is the student worker in the Public Relations Office. A native of Atlantic City, NJ, she now lives in Pittsylvania County. She is enrolled in DCC’s First Year Studies program and intends to pursue a career in radiology. Thomas is a highly-motivated individual who says, “I love life and I tend to make the most of what I have and enhance the abilities I have now.” The mother of three young children, her hobbies are singing, ballroom dancing and spending time with her children. She also enjoys cooking whenever she has the time.
