DCC TO DISTRIBUTE WEATHER ALERT

RADIOS FOR DEAF RESIDENTS

DANVILLE, VA, August 18, 2002 – Special Weather Alert Radios for residents who are deaf and hard of hearing will be available for pick up on Saturday, August 24, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Danville Community College’s Oliver Hall in the Temple Building. The radios are an invaluable aid for residents who are unable to hear broadcasts and alerts of approaching dangerous weather. DCC, through funds made possible through the Danville Lions Foundation, will offer the free devices to deaf and hard of hearing persons in Danville and Pittsylvania County.

This is a one-time free offer and equipment is limited! To receive the equipment, residents must bring a picture ID, social security number and proof of residency (home address indicating Danville City or Pittsylvania County such as a telephone or utility bill) are required.
