Brittney Thornton

Brittney Thornton, daughter of Kenneth and Evonda Thornton of Cascade, is a first-year student in the Liberal Arts Program. She plans to transfer to a four-year university and major in Elementary Education. Thornton is a graduate of Tunstall High School.

“I chose DCC because it has a great location and because tuition is affordable,” said Thornton. As a member of the Cascade Ruritan Club, she volunteers her time to visit the sick and elderly in the community. Her future plans are to join the African American Culture Club at DCC, as well as Phi Theta Kappa, the international honor society for two-year college students.

Thornton is a part-time assistant in the Admissions Office and expects to graduate in 2007.

“The best thing about DCC is how well the faculty and staff relate to students on a personal level,” Thornton said. “I would encourage others to attend DCC to prepare for the next step at a four-year university.”
