FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Staff Contact: Director of Public Relations STUDENT SPOTLIGHT - May 2005
Otto Mazzoni III
Otto Mazzoni III is a resident of Keeling and the son of Otto Mazzoni, Jr. and Susan Mazzoni. He is enrolled in the Liberal Arts/College Transfer program. He expects to graduate next year with an Associate in Arts & Science degree and transfer to an in-state college or university where he can have a double major in English and government with a minor in Italian. “Attendance at DCC is all relative to motivation, financial status, academic credentials and life goals. I chose to attend DCC in order to have both financial and academic stepping stones for the transition to a larger university,” he said. “Overall, DCC is a good place for a variety of people.” Mazzoni serves as the vice president of the DCC Upsilon Phi chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, the international honor society for two-year college students. He also is a member of the Student Government Association and is a peer tutor. The overall commitment to students is what Mazzoni sees as the best thing about DCC. “The convenient accessibility of teachers and administrators, in conjunction with their willingness and effort to be helpful to students who take initiative, are what instantly come to mind as the best characteristics of DCC,” he says.
