April Rowland

April Rowland is on her way to completing her first career goal—to become a licensed practical nurse. A resident of Gretna, she enrolled in the Practical Nursing Program in August 2002. She will complete her studies this month and prepare to take the licensing exam. Her plans are to continue her education and become a registered nurse.

Because of her positive experiences at DCC, Rowland says she encourages other college-bound people to visit DCC.

“Everyone here was so helpful when I decided to attend college,” she said. “I have enjoyed it here.”

She is married to Richard Rowland, and they have a two-year-old daughter. Rowland says she chose to attend DCC because she “had heard so many positive things” from former students. She says the best aspects of DCC are the “friendly atmosphere, the faculty, the programs offered and the location.”
