STUDENT SPOTLIGHT - April 2005

Ed Conner Jr.

Ed Conner Jr., a resident of Scottsburg, is enrolled in the Precision Machining Technology program and plans to graduate next month. The son of Alfred E. Conner Sr. and Laura Conner, he has already earned a diploma in Electrical-Electronics at DCC. He plans to transfer to Old Dominion University and pursue a bachelor’s degree in engineering.

“DCC was close to home for me and I have friends here,” Conner says. “DCC has helped me continue my education, and my time here has gotten me that much closer to my goals.”

Conner recently was named the winner of the District III Vocational and Industrial Club of America (VICA) Skill Olympics in the Precision Machining Technology competition. In addition to school, Conner works full time at ABB, Inc. in South Boston where he has been employed for five years.

“DCC provides a good education. The instructors are always willing to help you learn. They prepare you for the future and getting the job that’s best for you,” he adds.
