Jillena A. Harston

Jillena A. Harston of Scottsburg is a graduate of Halifax County High School. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Carter and Mr. Herman Harston. She recently completed studies for an Associate in Applied Science degree in Administrative Support Technology. She has re-enrolled at DCC to pursue an Associate in Arts and Science Degree in Business Administration. She plans to transfer to Old Dominion University and pursue a double major in Health Science and Business Administration.

“I chose DCC because I wanted the smaller class setting as opposed to the larger university setting.” she says. “I also wanted the advantage of the low student-to-teacher ratio in a smaller school. Of course, the cost was a key factor too. DCC is affordable! ”

Harston is a member of Phi Theta Kappa – the international honor society for two-year college students, and she serves as treasurer of the International Association of Administrative Professionals. Harston says she encourages anyone interested in furthering their education to attend DCC.

“Danville Community College provides an excellent environment for learning right here in the community,” she adds. “DCC is also a great launching pad for students who plan to transfer to a four year university.”
