RHONDA LASHAUN CHILDRESS

Rhonda LaShaun Childress of Danville is enrolled in the Administration of Justice Program. The daughter of Kate F. Dickerson and Barry A. Banks, Rhonda plans to continue her criminal justice studies by transferring to a four-year college after graduation from DCC next spring. Her goal is to become a probation officer.

“After being out of school for 12 years, I knew it was time for a change,” Rhonda says. “I wanted to be a probation officer and I knew that the only way I could do it was to go back to school. I knew that DCC was definitely the place to be!”

While at DCC, Rhonda has excelled in academic and student activities. She is a charter member and secretary of the Justice Club. She also is a member of the DCC Student Leaders and the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. She has consistently been named to the President’s Honors List, as well as the Dean’s List. She currently serves as a Crisis Intervention Specialist at DOVES, a shelter for battered spouses, and is preparing to become a Police Officer.

Rhonda says she spreads the good news about DCC wherever she goes.

“I encourage everybody to attend DCC,” Rhonda says. “The teachers show you that they care and they always have time for all questions -- big and small ones. And the cost (of DCC’s tuition) is not real expensive either. I love it at DCC!”
