SPOTLIGHT - May 2003
Israel M. Stephens receives his Associate in Applied Science Degree in the Industrial Maintenance Technician program this month. Since going through this new program, he has decided that he wants to continue his education and major in Electrical Engineering. The Gretna High School graduate is married to Linda Stephens and he is the father of four children. “I chose DCC because it is a local community college and its programs fit into my work schedule,” he says. “I was fortunate enough to attend a co-op program, sponsored through my employer, Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. After the program was completed, I decided to continue pursuing my education.” While attending DCC, Stephens has consistently been placed on the President’s Honors List for academic achievement, and he has been inducted in Phi Theta Kappa, the international honor society for two-year college students. Stephens
said he encourages others to attend DCC. “If
you are unable to attend a four-year college or university, but want to
continue your education, DCC is definitely ‘the place to be’”, he
