STUDENT SPOTLIGHT - June  2002

Michelle Alford

       Michelle Alford is a student in the Practical Nursing program and she will complete requirements this summer for a certificate, and graduate Summa Cum Laude.  She will sit for licensure this fall.  Michelle, a home-school student during her high school years, is the daughter of Benny and Joyce Alford.  She intends to obtain a job as an LPN in a physician’s office.  Eventually, she would like to continue her studies and become a Registered Nurse in Pediatrics.

      “ I chose DCC because they offered the program I was interested in,” she says. “The school was close to home and tuition was very reasonable.”

Michelle has consistently maintained an “A” average at DCC, and has been on the President’s Honors List. She also has served as a volunteer at Danville Regional Medical Center.   

         Michelle says she would definitely encourage others to attend DCC.  “The instructors here are very helpful and I love the small class size,” she adds.  She also thanks the Financial Aid Office for being “helpful during my time here.”
