Riley Hite

Riley E. Hite is a student in the Precision Machine Technology program. Riley, a 44-year old native of South Boston, is the husband of Nona Hite and the father of Charles Hite. Riley’s entire family is currently attending DCC, and they will graduate together in Spring 2003.

“ I chose DCC because I felt it was a good opportunity for me,” Hite says. “After being employed at J.P.S. Apparel in South Boston for 25 years, the company filed bankruptcy,” he explains.

After attending open house at DCC with his son, and being encouraged by some of the DCC instructors to explore his options, Hite decided to return to school and get his degree.

Riley says he would definitely encourage others to attend DCC. “It has truly been a challenge for me, and I feel that if I can go to college at the age of 43, after dropping out of high school, anyone can.”

He also gives credit to the younger students in his class. “Without their help,” he states, “I would not be doing as well as I am.”
