PICTORIAL REVIEW OF DCC'S AFRICAN-AMERICAN HISTORY MONTH ACTIVITIES

College Day 2005 - Feb. 12, 2005

Saint Augustine's College representative Warwick Scott discusses the college programs with a parent.

Dr. Shirley Terry, a Saint Paul's College alumnus provided information about the college to prospective students.

Teresa Sawyers of the Southern Piedmont Educational Opportunity Center, was one of 35 colleges and organizations participating in College Day 2005.

Jeremiah Hemingway, an alumnus of Allen University, discusses programs of study at the South Carolina college.

Reggie Wayne Morris Band Performs at DCC - Feb. 15, 2005

The Reggie Wayne Morris Band performed for a large crowd at Danville Community College.

Reggie Wayne Morris is the lead vocalist.

African-American History Challenge - Feb. 17, 2005
DCC clubs and organizations compete to see who knows the most about African-American history and culture.The event was sponsored by DCC's Alliance for Excellence and the DCC Bookstore.

Afro-American Culture Club - First Place Winner - $300

Justice Club - Second Place Winner - $100

CEO Club - Third Place Winner - $50

Dr. Thomas Johnson, an adjunct professor of Humanities and Religion, served as quizmaster. He was assisted by Olivia Orr, Public Relations Assistant.

Counselor Howard Graves and Cheryl Terry, Middle College Coordinator (not pictured), served as scorekeepers.

The Afro-American Culture Club was victorious in the end. Team members include: Saida Crockett, Chris Martin, and Zena Hibbler. In addition to $300 for the club, each member received a $15 gift certificate to the DCC Bookstore. In the rear, looking on,

are representatives of the Women's Basketball Club.

Harry Davis of the Justice Club grimaces as the team missed a question. In the end the team came in second place. At left are members of the Student Government Association, and in the rear, the CEO Club, which finished in third place.

The Upward Bound team ponders a question, while the Baseball Club representatives (rear, at right), plan their strategy.

Everyone had great fun at the competition, and the clubs are looking forward to the next Challenge!
