RESCHEDULED FOR MARCH 11

DANVILLE, VA, March 4, 2003 -- Jason Dorsey, the nationally acclaimed youth motivational speaker whose appearance here in January was postponed because of inclement weather, has now been re-scheduled and will be meeting with students at two area schools on Tuesday, March 11.

            Dorsey, the 24-year old author of “Graduate to your Perfect Job”, will make two area presentations -- at 10:30 a.m. at Halifax County High School, and at 1:00 p.m. at George Washington High School in Danville. The sessions are sponsored by the Southern Piedmont Tech Prep Consortium at Danville Community College.

Cathy Conner, Tech Prep Program Coordinator, says Dorsey’s presentations will focus on strategies for success for students, parents, and educators.

            “He will highlight ‘non-traditional careers’ as a way to find the ‘perfect’ job,” Conner said of Dorsey.   “His specialty is in helping students with career planning, curriculum selection, work experience, and mentoring.”

            Conner said Dorsey is also considered an expert on school violence prevention, having interviewed thousands of youth across America as well as psychology and education leaders before writing his second book, Ending School Violence: Solutions from America’s Youth.

            “I am delighted that Jason could rearrange his schedule to plan a return engagement in this area. He is such a sought-after speaker, I am just glad students will finally be able to meet him,” Conner said.
