DCC STUDENTS TO BE RECOGNIZED

AT 6th ANNUAL AWARDS CEREMONY

DANVILLE, VA, May 1, 2003 -- Eighty Danville Community College students will be recognized for their leadership, community service and scholastic accomplishments at the Sixth Annual Awards Recognition and Reception, to be held Friday, May 9, at 6 p.m., at the Mount Hermon Courtyard. Darrell Finney, Plant Manager, Goodyear-Danville, will be the guest speaker. Awards will be presented by Dr. Carlyle Ramsey, DCC President; Dr. Betty Jo Foster, Vice President of Academic and Student Services; and Mr. Wayne Martin, Assistant Professor, Business Management.

Awards to DCC graduates who plan to continue their education, will be presented by the following:

Delius-History Medallion Award - C. Kinney Rorrer, Assistant Professor of History
Danville Retired Teachers Scholarship - Vivian Parrish, Scholarship Chairperson
Danville Virginia Tech Alumni Scholarship - Chris Adcock, President, V-T Alumni Association
McGovern General Excellency Award - Dr. Wade Davenport
James T. Catlin, Jr.: Kiwanis Scholarship Award - Vickie Jenkins, President, Danville Kiwanis Club
Barksdale Honors Scholarships - Dr. B. Carlyle Ramsey, President
James Bustard Scholarships - Dr. Betty Jo Foster, Vice President, Academic and Student Services
