DANVILLE, VA., September 3, 2002 -- Several
activities in remembrance of the lives loss on September 11, 2001 are
being planned next week at Danville Community College. They include:
September 11, 2002 ·
Memorial Service held at 12:30 p.m., on the commons near the DCC Castle (EIT
Building), led by
Dr. Thomas Johnson, Adjunct Instructor and Pastor of
Bethel Baptist Church; Minister Joan Tarpley Robinson, Assistant
Professor of Mathematics; and W. George Jones, Associate Professor of
Psychology, as the speaker. The DCC Gospel Choir will provide music. The
service is sponsored by the Student Government Association. ·
A Moment of Silence will be observed in classes throughout the
day ·
DCC flags flown, alongside Virginia and United States flags · Red, white, and blue ribbons worn by faculty, staff, and students, courtesy of the Student Government Association ·
Womack Museum on DCC’s campus (Neathery Lane) to feature special display
in memory of the September 11 victims. The museum is open to the public
on Tuesdays - Sundays, 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. At other times, the museum is
open by appointment for group tours. September

DCC Discussion Forum: September 11 - One Year Later, 11:00 a.m., Oliver
Hall (DCC Auditorium). The forum will feature panelists: Dr. Harry
Kolendrianos, Professor of Business Management; John Wilt, Assistant
Professor of Administration of Justice; and Dr. Thomas Johnson, Adjunct
Professor and Pastor of Bethel Baptist Church; and W. George Jones,
Associate Professor of Psychology. The panelists will offer reflections
of what has transpired one year later in reference to the economy,
religion, and terrorism/security. For more
