DCC EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION

ANNOUNCES NEW SCHOLARSHIP

            DANVILLE, VA, December 5, 2003-- The Danville Community College Educational Foundation, in cooperation with Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, announces the establishment of the Marie B. Hollie Scholarship.  The award is in the honor of Marie B. Hollie, a member and longtime pianist at the church. 

The scholarship will be awarded for the first time in the 2004-2005 academic year.  To be eligible, the recipient must be a Dan River High School graduate during the year when the award is received; have maintained a 2.5 grade point average; be enrolled full-time in a program of study; demonstrate good citizenship; and exhibit academic promise.  Preference will be given to a student who has been involved in music either through the school, community or church.  Preference will also be given to a student who is entering a health care profession.
