DCC EMPLOYEES HONORED

BY STATEWIDE ASSOCIATION

DANVILLE, VA, Dec.5, 2005 -- Two Danville Community College employees have been recognized by

Cathy Pulliam	Peter Castiglione

 the Virginia Association of Student Personnel Administrators (VASPA), which represents all four and two-year public and private colleges in Virginia.  Cathy Pulliam, Student Recruitment and Enrollment Coordinator, was recognized as “Outstanding Community College Personnel Professional for 2005,” while Peter Castiglione, Director of Student Development and Enrollment Management, was elected President of the association.

Castiglione, who has served in various other capacities with VASPA was elected President the 2006 academic year. Castiglione has been employed by DCC for 35 years and has served as the Director of Student Development since 1981. He holds a Master of Science Degree from Virginia Tech and a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Southeastern College in Lakeland, Fla. He has completed additional course work at Harvard University, University of Virginia and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Castiglione is a member of Danville City Council and served as vice-mayor from 1996-1998.

Pulliam first came to DCC as a student, earning an Associate in Applied Science degree in Automotive Management and a certificate in Auto Body Mechanics. She also has an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Marketing. She later earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Sociology from Averett University.  Pulliam has been employed at DCC for seven years.
