DCC ALLIANCE FOR EXCELLENCE,

CHERRYSTONE SET COLLEGE DAY 2003

DANVILLE, VA, December 20, 2002 -- College Day 2003, sponsored by Danville Community College Alliance for Excellence and the Cherrystone Missionary Baptist Association of Churches, Inc., will be held Saturday, January 11, 2003 at the Cherrystone Association Center (located 5551 Tom Fork Road, in Ringgold). The event will be held 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., and is offered free to the public. This major event is being provided for youth in our regions that plan to attend college in the future.

College Day was first established in 2002 to promote higher education awareness among African-American students. Admissions counselors and financial aid officers from historically black colleges and universities throughout the region have been invited to spend the day sharing with perspective students from Danville, Pittsylvania County, and Halifax County. Representatives from DCC and Averett University will also attend. Entertainment will be provided throughout the day, such as college choirs and step teams. Food (for a nominal cost) will also be available.
