DCC FOUNDATION SETS

FIFTH GOLF TOURNAMENT

            DANVILLE, VA, October 7, 2003 – The Fifth Annual Danville Community College Educational Foundation Golf Tournament will be held on Friday, October 10 at the Danville Golf Club. Registration for the morning round begins at 7:45 a.m., while registration for the afternoon round begins at 1:00 p.m. Martha Walker, Executive Director of the DCC Educational Foundation, said 192 golfers and 48 teams are scheduled to tee off that day. The Danville Register & Bee is a co-sponsor for this event.

All proceeds from the tournament benefit the Foundation’s financial assistance programs. In 2003-2004, the Foundation awarded 191 scholarships to students to continue their education.

“Without the additional support from the teams, hole sponsors and companies that donate prizes and other items for the golfer's goodie bags, the tournament would not reach its annual goal,” Walker said. She added that in the last four years the tournament has raised more than $45,000 for scholarships and to support the DCC Baseball program.
