DCC OFFERS CAPTEL SERVICE DEMONSTRATION
DANVILLE, VA, September 14, 2004 – Residents who having hearing difficulties or are unable to understand clearly telephone conversation now have another option – CapTel services. A demonstration of the CapTel services and equipment will be held on Saturday, September 25, from 1:30 – 3:30 p.m., in Danville Community College’s Oliver Hall (in the Temple Building). Ms. Betti Thomspon, Coordinator at Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services Inc. Center in Roanoke, will conduct the presentation. Dr. Carl Amos, Coordinator of Services for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing at DCC, says the phones are great for those with hearing difficulties. The phone also includes an amplified handset and tone control. “The CapTel phone works just like any other phone, except the caller’s voice is captioned on a built in display on the phone,” Amos says. “ For more information about the presentation or other services for the deaf and hard of hearing, contact Amos, at (434)797-8479 (voice or TTY).
