DANVILLE, Va., February 8, 2005 -- Jeff Arnold, Interim Dean of Workforce Services at Danville Community College, was recently named to serve on the board of the directors of the National Coalition of Advanced Technology Centers (NCATC). The NCATC is a network of higher education resources that advocates and promotes the use of technology applications that enhance economic and workforce development programs and services. According to NCATC Executive Director Dr. Richard Hinckley, the board positions are highly sought after. He noted that Arnold’s selection was based on the fact that Arnold is “recognized by his peers for exhibiting tremendous leadership in meeting the needs of business, industry, workers, and students, and he is known throughout the nation as being among the best in the fields of workforce development and training.” DCC President Dr. Carlyle Ramsey echoed Hinckley’s enthusiasm. “This is not only a wonderful opportunity for Jeff, but also for the college. The new Regional Center for Advanced Technology & Training building that is scheduled for completion this summer will be a state-of-the-art advanced technology center. “Jeff’s role in the National Coalition of Advanced Technology Centers will ensure that he has access to the most up-to-date ideas and program opportunities for such centers and insight into leading-edge issues facing technology centers today,” Ramsey continued. “I applaud Jeff Arnold for landing this important position on the NCATC board.” DCC is one of 120 member schools from throughout the nation, and Arnold will be one of nine board members.
