NEW WORKPLACE READINESS PROGRAM HAS FIRST GRADUATES                                                              

DANVILLE, VA, January 7, 2008 –  Sixteen Danville Community College students are re-entering the job market with a host of new skills. They are among the first graduates of the new Workplace Readiness Program, designed to prepare individuals to work in a variety of entry level positions in customer service, including retail sales.

The graduates are shown, left to right, first row: Judith Hicks and Betty Clifton, both of Danville; second row: Betty Walker (Danville), Walter Johnson (Chatham), Sherry Goodman (Danville), John Corn (Danville), Linda Doss (Danville), and Bessie Glass (Chatham); and back row: Mary Walker (Ringgold), Brenda Vaden (Danville), Linda Stephens (Danville), Gwendolyn Robinson (Danville), Wayne Phillippi (Danville), Rentha Henderson (Danville), Juanita Medley (Java), and Joyce Price (Danville).

The next classes are forming soon. In addition to retail sales, students can choose among food and beverage services, or hotel front management operations.
