DCC, AVERETT UNIVERSITY HOST JOINT CAREER FAIR

DANVILLE, VA, March 3, 2008 -- Danville Community College and Averett University will host a free Career Fair on Tuesday, March 18 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Danville Community Market. The Community Market is located on Craghead Street, adjacent to the Crossing at the Dan.  

More than 25 area businesses including area school systems, Progress Energy and Shorewood Packaging are expected to participate. Businesses will be on hand to discuss job openings and to offer career guidance.

"This is a great opportunity for members of the community to find out what skills area businesses are looking for as well as to apply for any job openings," said Christy Yaple, DCC Director of Tech Prep and Career Placement. "Our list of participating businesses continues to expand each day, and we are looking forward to an impressive turnout for this event."

Averett and DCC are offering the event as a community service in hopes of matching employers' needs with the available workforce. It's also a chance for job seekers to hone their skills.

"We see this as an event that will help both job seekers and employers," said Katlin Hecox, Averett Director of Career Services. "Job seekers can talk with a variety of potential employers, learn about current opportunities and practice valuable job search skills."
