HUT, HUT, HIKE! SGA PLAN “MADDEN ’07” GAME TOURNAMENT
DANVILLE, VA, January 17, 2007 – Football fever has hit Danville Community College! The Student Government Association (SGA) will host a Madden (NFL) 2007 video game tournament on Saturday, January 27, beginning at 10:00 a.m., in Temple Building, Room 110 (Oliver Hall). DCC students and others, 18 years and older, are invited to participate.
“This is the third time DCC’s SGA has sponsored a video game tournament. This time there will be approximately $1,000 worth of prizes,” says JoLane Dunlap, DCC Counselor and SGA co-advisor.
The game will be played using four PlayStation 2 (PS2) systems on four televisions. A maximum of 32 players will be allowed to play the elimination style tournament. The game finals will be viewed on a 192-inch projection screen.
“The tournament is going to be great. We decided to have the event because there are a lot of people who love (John) Madden football games. Last year, we had an excellent turnout for the Halo 2 (video game) tournament and even had to turn people away. We expect this year’s event to be the same,” says Dereke Ridgeway, SGA President.
There is an entry fee of $15 for DCC students and $25 for non-students (over age 18). No PS2 memory cards are allowed. All proceeds will benefit DCC’s Student Center building project.
