DANVILLE, VA, April 10, 2007 – Danville Community College’s Justice Club (Omega Alpha Omicron Chapter) recently brought home top awards from the 70th National Conference of the American Criminal Justice Association (ACJA) - Lambda Alpha Epsilon, held in Wilmington, DE. Attending the annual meeting were Phillip “Harvie” Jeter of Gretna, Richard Waller of Sandy Level, Taneka Stephens of Chatham, Penny Davis of Ringgold, and Charika Carter, Alex Jackson and Joya Wilson, all of Danville, along with their club advisor John Wilt, Associate Professor of Administration of Justice.
Competing against 100 shooters, Jeter scored 452 points out of 480 to win second place honors in the Lower Division of the Individual Firearms Competition. Jeter also won third place honors in the Criminal Law Academic Exam Competition. Wilt triumphed in the Professional Division, taking second place honors in Physical Agility and third place in the Talent Competition for his singing ability.
Wilt is President of Region IV and also served as this year’s conference director. Region IV encompasses 13 states and 41 ACJA chapters on two-and four-year college campuses. Wilt has been a “Star Member” of the ACJA since 1978, and chairs the Chapter Advisors Committee.
