ENTREPRENEURSHIP CONFERENCE SET FOR AREA HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

DANVILLE, VA, March 26, 2007 – The High School Entrepreneurship Conference, sponsored by Danville Community College and the DCC chapter of the Collegiate Entrepreneurial Organization (CEO), will be held Friday, March 30 at 10:00 a.m. at the Danville Community Market. The event features entrepreneur Dr. Rich Bailey, the inventor of the popular “Billy-Bob Teeth”. Also featured is local business owner, Jerry “J.D.” Edmunds, owner of “Who Paged JD?”. Edmunds was recently honored by the Danville-Pittsylvania County Chamber of Commerce with the 2006 Enduring Enterprise Award.

“There will be high school juniors and seniors and their teachers from Danville, Pittsylvania County and Halifax County invited to the event,” says David Bonebright, Associate Professor of Marketing and the conference coordinator. “It is an opportunity for area students to hear national and local entrepreneurial success stories and encourage students to pursue their dreams and perhaps start their own business someday.” He adds that DCC and the CEO club members will also meet with students about furthering their education.

Bailey and his “wacky” fake teeth have appeared on The Jay Leno Show, The Today Show with Katie Couric, as well as in major motion pictures such as The Waterboy, Austin Powers, and Joe Dirt. Bailey also runs “Floss Across America”, a national oral health program designed to teach children the importance of good oral health habits.

Edmunds started his business following a college assignment to create a “fake” business. After five years of selling pagers, he opened a store that has expanded to include the home phone service and cellular phone markets.
