FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Staff Contact: Director of Public Relations & Minority Concerns Public Relations & Marketing Specialist BIBLE INTERPRETATION CLASS OFFERED DANVILLE, VA, Dec. 13, 2006 – If you are interested in learning about the Bible, then Danville Community College has just the course. Beginning in January, DCC will offer the course “Interpreting the Bible” (REL 295), on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, from 2- 3:15 p.m., in EIT Building, Room # 42. “Individuals taking this course will learn how to use various biblical tools to interpret and arrive at an accurate understanding of the Bible,” says Lee Hagwood, the adjunct professor of the course. Hagwood says that “Interpreting the Bible” was chosen as a result of a survey he administered to DCC students. He says he received a high response from students interested in the class. Students taking the three-credit-hour course will read, study and interpret the Bible through Hermeneutics, a methodology of interpreting the Bible. Hagwood also states that the course has no prerequisites and will include study of both the Old and New Testaments. “I believe that a broad and balanced understanding of religion and humanities courses will greatly empower any citizen or student to properly engage and analyze vast critical issues facing our community and county,” says Hagwood. Hagwood is the Senior Pastor of Agape Bible Christian Fellowship in Martinsville, and he serves as Battalion Chaplain at the 429th Headquarters Brigade Support Battalion in Danville. For more information about the class, contact the College at 434.797.8462, or click here.
