DCC SETS INFORMATION SESSION FOR NEW MANUFACTURING TECH CERTIFICATION

 

DANVILLE, VA, September 24, 2007 – An information session for Danville Community College’s Manufacturing Technician Certification program will be held on Monday, October 1, at DCC’s Regional Center for Advanced Technology and Training (RCATT), located at 121 Slayton Avenue in Danville. Interested persons should contact the Workforce Services Office at 434.797.6437 to register for a session.

 

The Manufacturing Technician Certification, a short-term program, was created in response to area industries that are seeking highly-skilled workers. The program allows participants to develop a strong knowledge of the skills required in manufacturing within a concise and flexible schedule.  The certification can be completed in as little as nine weeks. Companies supporting the program include ABB, Goodyear, Knight-Celotex Fiberboard, Swedwood, Ennis, Yorktowne Cabinetry, the Danville Pittsylvania County Chamber of Commerce, and others.

 

The program requires 14 credits and includes courses, such as: Business Ethics, AC/DC Circuits, World Class Manufacturing, Key Train Remediation, Systematic Problem Solving, TekXam Certification, Applications in Mechanical Systems, Industrial Safety, and Preparation for Employment.
