DCC PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICE WINS AWARDS

DANVILLE, VA, November 11, 2014 – Danville Community College’s Public Relations Office garnered seven major awards, including six first place (Gold) honors at the 2014 National Council for Marketing and Public Relations (NCMPR) District II Medallion Awards competition held recently in Nashville, TN. The annual awards were presented for outstanding achievement in marketing communications and honor the work of community college marketing and public relations professionals in the southeastern region.

The DCC awards stem from a social media and video advertising campaign launched in spring 2014 that featured student and faculty testimonials, program requirements, admission and transfer information and a “fun? video that involved the entire campus. There were more than 500 entries in 48 categories. Seven of the eight entries that DCC submitted won awards.

The College received gold awards for the following projects:
• Advertising- Single video -accounting program
• Advertising - Single video - networking program
• Advertising - Series videos- early childhood, science/transfer, precision machining programs
• Advertising - Series videos -nursing, automotive, industrial maintenance programs
• College Promotional Video - DCC College Transfer Programs
• College Promotional Video - "Happy" at DCC

In addition, the DCC Bronze (third place) award was for the following project:
• Writing (Feature Article /General News Story) - precision machining/welding equipment grant

District II is comprised of community and technical colleges in 11 states – Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, along with the Bahamas, Bermuda and the British Virgin Islands, as well as community and technical college state systems. NCMPR is an affiliate council of the American Association of Community Colleges.
