Middle College, Great Expectations Graduates

Danville Community College’s Middle College program recently celebrated its 10th anniversary during a ceremony to honor the class of 2014. Participants in the Great Expectations program were also recognized. DANVILLE, VA, May 21, 2014 – Fifty-three students from the City of Danville and Halifax and Pittsylvania Counties recently completed the Middle College and Great Expectations programs at Danville Community College. Carrie Ashe, Danville Community College Board member was the guest speaker.

Middle College is a grant-funded program which offers an opportunity for residents of Danville, Pittsylvania County, and Halifax County to obtain their General Educational Development Certificate and develop career readiness skills.

Great Expectations helps Virginia’s foster youth complete high school, gain access to a community college education and transition successfully from the foster care system to living independently.

Nicholas Risko of Chatham was honored with the Chancellor’s Award, presented in honor of the Virginia Community College System’s Chancellor, Dr. Glenn DuBois. Risko received a plaque and a scholarship to continue his education.
