The event will be held April 8, 2014, at the historic Bolling Haxall House in Richmond. The keynote speaker will be the Honorable Anne Holton, Virginia’s former first lady and current Secretary of Education.

The Rising Star Award honors a VAFRE member who has demonstrated remarkable talents at an early stage in their fund-raising career. In addition to Hair, David M. Huffine, Vice President for Advancement at St. Joseph’s Villa will be recognized with the Nina Abady Award.

“It’s a great privilege for VAFRE to honor David and Shannon, and to celebrate their impressive successes with their colleagues and the larger philanthropic community,? said David Thomason, VAFRE’s Board President. “In so doing, we celebrate all Virginia development professionals, applaud their role in creating positive impact on lives and communities across the state, and hope that David and Shannon’s shining examples will challenge and encourage each of us.?

VAFRE, founded in 1980, is the leading resource and networking organization for the region's development and fundraising professionals.
