DANVILLE, VA. February 4, 2014 – If you want to continue your education, but need money for college, Danville Community College can help! A Scholarship/Financial Aid seminar has been planned for Saturday, February 22, to showcase the 125 scholarships available to prospective and returning DCC students. General information sessions will be held that day at 9 a.m., 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. in Foundation Hall on the DCC campus.

In addition to information about scholarships, provided through the DCC Educational Foundation, workshops will be held to assist in completing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The FAFSA is the gateway to obtaining federal funds from programs such as the Pell Grant, SEOG, Work-Study and the William D. Ford Federal Student Loan. College personnel also will be available to assist with the admission application process. Prizes will be available for participants, including the drawing for four (4) credits of tuition (a $528 value) and a $250 Bookstore credit.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for parents, prospective students and returning students to learn more about the process of applying for scholarships and financial aid,? says Cathy Pulliam, Coordinator of Admissions, Enrollment Management and Student Outreach. “We want everyone to have this information as they make plans for higher education.?

Last year, DCC awarded more than $600,000 in scholarships to 300 new and returning students. Only one application is needed to apply for all scholarships. The deadline to apply is March 31, 2014.
