DANVILLE, VA, November 13, 2013 – Registration for spring semester 2014 is underway now at Danville Community College. Spring classes begin January 13. To assist students with admissions, financial aid and registration, DCC is hosting an Open House/No Appointments Needed Day on Friday, December 6. During this time, prospective students can also take the Virginia Placement Test and discuss programs of study with academic counselors and financial aid.

Students can register for classes once they have applied for admission and taken the Virginia Placement Test or sent in appropriate transcripts. Students already admitted to the college can register using DCC’s new mobile app or online following the links on the homepage – To access the mobile app, visit your mobile app store, search for “Virginia Community College System? or “VCCS?, and open the app and select “Danville Community College?.

The tuition and fees for Virginia residents are $132.00 per credit hour, which includes a $7.50 per credit and a $1.50 per credit Student Activity Fee. There is also a Maintenance Fee of $1.00 per credit for classes taught on the DCC campus. Tuition and fees are due on the day of registration.

Financial assistance is available for students who qualify. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) should be completed before Monday, December 2. All relevant documentation in the student’s financial aid file should be completed by Dec. 13. If this schedule is followed, it will ensure that the financial aid is in place before spring classes begin. Even if students do not meet these deadlines, the financial aid will still be processed and DCC will make every effort to ensure funds are awarded before classes begin. Students who have been awarded financial aid for fall 2013 do not need to apply again, as financial aid is already in place.

A variety of course offerings are available this spring. These include classes offered during the daytime and evening, as well as those offered on weekends and via distance learning. Classes are also available at the Southern Virginia Higher Education Center in South Boston, and The Riddle Center in Gretna. For the full listing of courses offered go to the college’s homepage on the internet.
In addition, DCC has gu
aranteed transfer agreements with more than 40 colleges and universities across the region. Students who meet those requirements may transfer to senior institutions with junior class status.
