DCC Middle College and Great Expectations Graduates Stephen Bolling Receives Honor

DANVILLE, VA, May 24, 2013 – Forty-five students from the City of Danville and Halifax and Pittsylvania Counties recently completed the Middle College and Great Expectations programs at Danville Community College. During a ceremony held recently, guest speakers included Allyson Roberts, Great Expectations Mentoring Coordinator from Richmond and DCC President Dr. Carlyle Ramsey.


Middle College is a grant-funded program which offers an opportunity for residents of Danville, Pittsylvania County, and Halifax County to obtain their General Educational Development Certificate and develop career readiness skills.


Great Expectations helps Virginia’s foster youth complete high school, gain access to a community college education and transition successfully from the foster care system to living independently.


Middle College special recognition awards were presented as follows:

Presidential Award
Stephen Bolling of Sutherlin was honored with the Presidential Award, a first-time award presented in honor of Dr. B. Carlyle Ramsey. Bolling received a plaque and a scholarship award to continue his education.

National Adult Education Honor Society for achieving an overall GED© test score of 2600 or higher
