DANVILLE, VA,  December 3, 2013 - Danville Community College student Morgan Jones of Dry Fork was honored with the Charles A. Womack Jr., and Estelle H. Womack Commonwealth Legacy Scholarship Award. The awards program was established in 2006 by the Virginia Foundation for Community Colleges to increase access to higher education and to develop leadership potential. Students are honored from each of the state’s 23 community colleges. To be eligible, students must demonstrate academic excellence during high school, be a full-time, associate degree-seeking student with plans to graduate from a Virginia community college and demonstrate a willingness to mentor future scholars. Jones, a 2013 graduate of Tunstall High School, is enrolled in DCC’s Liberal Arts/College Transfer program. Her career goal is to become a middle school math teacher. The daughter of Keith and Lisa Jones, she is a member of Phi Theta Kappa, an international honor society, and the DCC Student Leadership Program.
