Middle College, Great Expectations Graduates

DANVILLE, VA, May 24, 2012 – Danville Community College recently held graduation for 59 students who have completed the Middle College program and 14 who participated in the Great Expectations program.

Middle College is a grant-funded program which offers an opportunity for residents of Danville, Pittsylvania County, and Halifax County to obtain a General Educational Development Certificate and develop career readiness skills.

Great Expectations helps Virginia’s foster youth complete high school, gain access to a community college education and transition successfully from the foster care system to living independently.

Guest speakers during the ceremony included Carolyn Thurston, Coordinator of Middle College and Adult Career Services; Jeff Arnold, Vice President of DCC Workforce Services; and DCC President Dr. Carlyle Ramsey.
