DANVILLE, VA, February 7, 2012 — Approximately 130 high school students are expected to participate in the District III SkillsUSA Competition, hosted by Danville Community College on Saturday, February 11.

The participating students represent schools in Amherst, Bedford, Franklin, Henry, Patrick, Halifax and Pittsylvania Counties, as well as the Danville City and Lynchburg City. They will compete in 31 different categories. The competitions begin at 8:00 a.m. and continue throughout the day on DCC’s main campus. An awards ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. in Oliver Hall (in Temple Building) to recognize the winners.

“We are excited to host these events,? says Robert Huffman, Associate Professor of Drafting and Design. “We have numerous campus volunteers who are working to ensure a successful competition.?
