Carrington Child Development Center Celebrates 10th Anniversary

Gift presented to child care center

Shannon Hair, Executive Director of the DCC Educational Foundation, presents a gift to Traci Daniel, Center Director.

The Carrington Child Development Center recently celebrated its 10-year anniversary as a resource in the community serving more than 500 children over the years. In addition, more than 180 DCC students/parents have taken advantage of the center. Another benefit is that 275 students in DCC’s Early Childhood Education (associate of applied science degree) program have worked with the children in the classroom/lab. The on-campus center is operated by Families First, and serves children ages two months to nine years old, with full-time and part-time enrollments. The Center has been awarded three stars by the Virginia Star Quality Initiative (VSQI). This star rating ensures that the program is on a quality improvement path, distinguishes itself for exceeding required standards, assures parents that the program is focused on producing a high quality experience for children, and reflects a culture of commitment to excellence among staff.

For more information about the center (open to both students and the community), contact 434.793.9531, or email
