DANVILLE, VA January 4, 2011 – What's New in Oracle for the IT Professional? How Can IT students prepare themselves for the job market? What is the DCC Oracle Academy? These and other questions are the focus of a Danville Community College technology seminar. “What’s New in Oracle for 2011? will be held Tuesday, January 11, at 11 a.m. in Oliver Hall (Temple Building). There is no cost to attend this event.

Perry Benson, Senior Global Program Manager at Oracle, a world-wide provider of integrated business software and hardware systems, will be the presenter. Benson, who is located in the company’s Atlanta, GA office, will discuss what’s new in 2011 with Oracle for information technology professionals, the skills needed for careers in computer science/engineering, management information systems or information technology, on-site and online training programs and DCC’s participation in the Oracle Academy.

Charlie Adams, Professor of Information Technology, says the seminar is part of his 3-credit programming course (ITD PL/SQL). He adds that while the seminar is targeted to students, community residents who have an interest in information systems, and management are also invited to attend this free event.
