DANVILLE, VA, April 12, 2011 – Texas businessman and motivational speaker Jerome Love, who is known as “The G.UG.O.G.S. Guy!? (Get Up, Get Out, and Get Something), will headline the two-day Entrepreneurship Conference for Danville Community College and high school students on April 28 -29.

Love will address DCC students on
Thursday, April 28 at 11 a.m. in Oliver Hall (Temple Building), and serve as the keynote speaker at the High School Entrepreneurship Conference from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., on Friday, April 29, in Oliver Hall. Love will also judge the competition for high school student entrepreneurs.

The Conference will be one of the first events held in cooperation with the Barkhouser Free Enterprise Center on the DCC campus. The Center was established through funds to the DCC Educational Foundation by Richard and Kit Barkhouser of Danville. The Center is committed to promoting the free enterprise system and entreprenership opportunities at the College and throughout the service region of Danville, Halifax County and Pittsylvania County.

Love, who lives in Houston, TX, is the author of “Get Up, Get Out & Get Something: How Contrapreneurship
(TM) Can Help You Build A Booming Business,? a book in which Love candidly tells how he went from being more than $80,000 in debt to building a million dollar enterprise, all before the age of 30. Love’s first book, Contrapreneurship (TM) was released in 2007.The book gives practical tips on how to succeed as the head of your own enterprise and how to create a lifestyle that you love.

He is President and CEO of Houston Black Expo, Inc., the largest African American Trade Show in Texas. He also is the broker and owner of LHS Realty Group, LLC, a full service real estate firm with eight agents servicing Houston and surrounding areas.

He began his first business, a clothing line, named GUGOGS
(TM) (Get Up, Get Out & Get Something), at age 19, while still in college. Within two years, the clothing line was carried both nationally and internationally. This venture earned him the nickname, the GUGOGSTM Guy?, which he says the phrase is more about the formula for his incredible success. Love currently lives in Houston with his wife and children.

At the conference, Love plans to share stories from his journey and encourage budding entrepreneurs to learn from their mistakes and to embrace their uniqueness in order to build the lifestyle they desire. He notes that his journey was not always easy. He grew up on a farm in Lake Providence, LA, but later moved to San Antonio, TX, where he struggled to find his identity. In an attempt to fit in with the “cool kids?, he found himself making a series of bad choices that ultimately led to him being expelled from high school two months prior to graduation and placing his full college scholarship in jeopardy. However, after overcoming the odds he found himself in college.
