DANVILLE, VA, August 2, 2010 – Danville Community College, in cooperation with the City of Danville Departments of Public Safety, Virginia State Police, and DCC’s CERT (Community Emergency Response Team), will conduct a functional exercise on August 2 to evaluate DCC’s emergency preparedness. The drill will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

The purpose of this exercise is to evaluate the College’s emergency management procedures, according to McKinley Graves, member of DCC’s CERT. The exercise will address response procedures, communications and incident command.

The College will be temporarily closed during part of the exercise and all entrances may blocked. In addition, the College’s alert system for text messages, emails and phone calls will be utilized. All communications will clearly emphasize that this is a drill.

The drill is being scheduled during Summer Break in order to reduce inconvenience and/or confusion. For more information, contact the College at 434.797.2222, or click here.
