DANVILLE, VA, April 2, 2010 – Danville Community College will be offering a free workshop for students starting classes in the summer or the fall semesters. The workshop will be held Wednesday, April 14 from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Wyatt Building, Room 201.

All DCC students planning to pursue a certificate, diploma, and/or associate degree are required to take a placement assessment called COMPASS, which is a basic assessment of the student’s reading, writing, and numerical skills. The assessment allows students to start at the level that best suits their needs.

The workshop will present an overview of the material and the format of the COMPASS assessment in an effort to help students know what to expect when taking the assessment and help them to perform better. To prepare for the COMPASS assessment, students are encouraged to complete the online practice assessment at the following link:
